Entourage X and attachments

Hi I'm asking this question on behalf of my mom. She has a MacBook
running Tiger with Entourage X (10.1.4). Right now when she gets
emails with word or excel attachments and she tries to open them
nothing happens. When she saves them to her desktop she still can't
open them. I checked it out and it appears that the computer is using
her Office 2004 test drive as the default application, which we've
removed. I will find the Office X version of word or excel, tell it to
always open applications with this program and then the attachment will
open just fine. But the problem still persists. I can't seem to
figure out how to change the default programs entourage uses to open
the attachments so that she can open them from entourage without
problems (i.e. without saving attachments to the desktop and telling it
to open with the correct version of word, excel etc). Additionally,
when I close entourage and then reopen it, the same problems keep
happening.

Any ideas?
Thanks!

You have to use "Remove Office" to remove the Test Drive. Most people just
trash the folder and this causes problems. The Test Drive has to be removed
correctly.

Remove Office is located in the Office 2004 folder --> Additional Tools
folder and on the CD-ROM.

To remove the Test Drive, on the Results screen, click the Microsoft Office
2004 (including Test Drive) check box to select the Test Drive, and then
click Continue.

If your Microsoft Office folders contain other types of documents that you
want to save, you should move them elsewhere before starting Remove Office.

Note: Your Entourage data stored in your Microsoft User Data folder will not
be removed.

If she has been using Entourage 2004 test drive, her Entourage X will not be
able to use the 2004 database. Let us know if this is the case and we can
walk you through getting her mail back into Entourage X.
