excel 2000 not responding

My computer has Outlook 2003, but the rest of the Office applications are
2000. Whenever I am working in Excel 2000 and go to initiate a new email or
reply to an email while that excel file is open, excel locks up and outlook
freezes. I have to go into task manager and kill Excel, then outlook opens
the new or reply mail message. Is there a conflict between 2003 and 2000?

Shouldn't be...try re-installing Office 2000 (Excluding outlook) and fully
patch the 2000 installation. It should be fine
