Excel Song List ideas

Has anyone been able to figure out a way to have Excel
provide an end-user with a drop down list of Song Titles
that can be used to generate a Set List for a band?

I'm trying to help out a friend with this (PC client) and
will set it up on my Macintosh and e-mail it to him on
the road.

We have a list of about 120 songs at the moment, and I
thought that I'd be able to set those up in one area for
access via another area of a worksheet. The List function
only seems tolist whatever is in the current column, but
I can't get this to work with non-contiguous cells.

I've tried several times to create something (using
verification for a time sheet works well, but the list is
limited)but can't seem to grasp how Excel would do it. I
can do the same thingin Filemaker with using a related
file, but thought that Excel could do it with a spearate
worksheet in the same file.... no luck!

Does anyone have a solution or ideas? Thanks for all of
your help in advance!

You should be able to do it with Validation on the Data menu. The list of
song titles has to be on the same sheet as the droplist, but you can hide
the column after you set up the validation.

Set the Validation type to List, and set the Source field to the cell range
containing your song titles.

Note that if you name your list, you can use a list from a different
sheet in your validation dropdown:

Allow: list
Source: =mysonglist

You can even make it dynamic, so that you can add or delete songs
from the list, by defining the list something like (using
Insert/Name/Define):

Name: mysonglist
Refers To: =OFFSET(Sheet1!$A$1,0,0,COUNTA(Sheet1!$A:$A),1)

Adjust the cell references to suit.
