Fixed Start Time

D

Doug Huston

I want to use Project as a tool to set-up a 24 hours
Schedule of production jobs run each day by Operations. I
need to have the durations IN MINUTES at Fixed Starting
Times, and most importantly, I need the Bar to visually
appear showing the times on the Bar Chart.

When I type-in the Start time and manually type-in the
minutes into the Duration field, the Bar disappears.

How do I set a Fixed Starting Time, type-in the minutes,
and all the while having the Bar appear on the Bar Chart
(which is set-up on 30 minute intervals during a 24 hour
day.)

I am a relatively new User of MSProject, so I have a huge
learning curve to overcome.

I sincerely appreciate any help you can provide. I have
to have all jobs run by Operations on a Schedule this week
and need to have the duration times reflected in the Bar
Chart as a good visual.

Thank you very much.

Hi Doug,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

Project is not designed to help with production but for unique individual
projects with a clearly defined start and finish. However, if you're going
to use Project, then the only date you should type in is the project start
date. Leave Project to calculate Start and Finish dates from the
Precedence logic links and Durations of each task. If you must, then in
Tools/Options/View tab select a Date format that includes minutes.

As a new user, you might like to have a look at my series of Microsoft

Hope this helps - please let us know how you get on :)
