General Question re email w/ Outlook

Stilla

Hi there! I am new to Outlook, and am considering the benefits of using it
as my email editor. I'd like to understand the basics....

If I have an email account with say, google - my address would stay the
same, right? Do I set up outlook to "download" emails from that google
account automatically? That way, I don't ever sign on to gmail at all, but
just read my email from Outlook?

As I said, it's a very basic question, but funnily enough, I can't find it
answered in the Outlook help files.

THanks very much!

Yes, that's exactly how it works. Google provides a POP3 interface to its mail servers, so you'd create a POP3 account in Outlook. Instructions are available on your Gmail web page.

Thanks Sue! I'll explore it! I suppose there is no way to "filter in"
certain emails to outlook and leave out others. Say, I want my business
emails downloaded, but not the personal ones..

No, it's all or nothing.
