Global Resource Pool question...

I opened up my resource pool as read/write (the middle option of the three)
to assign a different base calendar to some resources. I made my changes,
saved and closed the resource pool. Later I opened the resource pool again,
as read/write and found that my changes didn't take!

I assume MS Project would alert me if someone else were in the resource
pool. I'm wondering what could be causing this? I went in again and made a
different type of change (sorted by name), saved and closed it again. I
opened it back up and again the changes were lost.

I have SP2 installed.
Any ideas? Thanks!

Hi Jennifer and MCSE,

I too have this same problem.

I ended up resaving the file under a different name, braking the link
between approx. 40 projects and then relinking them back to the new
resource pool. (This was yesterday, i havent made any changes to see if
it will take yet).

Hope to see an answer or at least a work around for this issue.

Thanks
Tam

Hi Tammy,

Sorry to hear you're having the same problem. I'll try what you suggested,
hopefully that will work!

Thanks!

Hi Jennifer and Tammy,

When you shared the resources with the other files, did you select the
option for Pool takes precedence or the option Sharer takes precedence?

If the resources are defined differently (different ID from sorting or
different Base calendar) and you selected the Sharer takes precedence,
changes in the pool file may be lost/overwritten by changes made in the
sharer files.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Hi Julie,

Yes, all the projects assigned to the pool are set so the pool takes
precedence. I will double check though. I made a new resource pool like Tammy
suggested. It worked great for a day and now today I'm experiencing the same
problem - my changes won't save. Ugh.

Thanks for all of your help!

Hi Jennifer,

You're welcome for the assistance I have provided thus far and thanks
for the feedback.

I must admit I'm baffled. I've seen changes made to a pool get lost
when the option sharer takes preferences is enabled and I find it odd
that re-linking to a new pool worked for a time but is no longer
working.

If you open the pool with read-write and open the sharer files, does the
problem persist?

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.
