hidden folders

I have a directory called compliance that is a folder.
Under it I have several other folders with files in them.
All of a sudden with I open a folder and have it set in
list mode you can't see the folders under compliance. It
you press on the details they show up. Does anyone know
what is going on? Would appreciate the help!

Looks like you've got the "Hidden Attribute" set for the "Compliance"
subdirectory.
If so, then;

In Explorer or from "Settings" get to;
Tools->FolderOptions->View

Select the "The show all files" button.

Found that the term "Files" is somewhat of a misnomer as it also seems to
apply to directories (Folders).

Note that I'm using W98 but the idea is the same.
