hide paragraph symbol when it's not on the tool bar or drop down

I hit something accidentally and now have the paragraph symbol in all my new
e-mails. I don't have this on my toolbar and help said it would be in a drop
down but it's not. I just need to get this off.

I tried this in the main screen of Outlook and also in a new e-mail and it didn't work. Is there something I am missing?

Ok, compose a new message.

Type 'This is a test' and hit enter.

Do you see a dot between each word and the paragraph mark at the end of the
line?

If yes, hit control-shift-8. Appears that the focus does need to be in the
message body portion of the form.

If no, I think I need a better explanation of what you're seeing.
