how can i retrieve a document that i typed but didn't save

I opened a document that was attached to my email and I didn't save it as a
file on my computer. I did click on 'save', but not as 'save as'. I've
been typing on my computer for hours on this document and clicking on 'save'
frequently. But, when I closed the document and tried to open it back up, I
realized it had not been saved to the hard drive. I was wondering if there's
any way I can retrieve this document or if it's completely lost to me. I
use Windows XP and Word.

Maybe - search your computer for that file. You'd do well to find a word
that won't be found in 99% of your files.
