How do I alphabetize the documents in "File" "Open"?

When I click on "File" and then "Open" the files that appear are NOT in
alphabetical order. I would like to view them in alphabetical order. How is
this accomplished?

I assume that you are in Details mode. Click on the Name column
heading to sort the list of names.
