How do I change the default author in MS Office Files?

Normally when you install Microsoft Office, you have to put in your name and
initials the first time you use the application after you install it, for
example, opening up MS Excel after an install of Office, prompts you to enter
your name and intials. This name will show up in Excel when you add a
comment to a call.

My question is how do I change the name if it is not appearing as I want it
or if it has changed since it was first set? Does MS Office need to be
uninstalled and re-installed to do this?

I think you can change the author name in excel by clicking on the file menu
and selecting properties. In the properties window select the summary tab
and type in the new name you wish beside the author line.

Ummm... no, Rebecca. Following your suggestion will change the author
name for just the one file that is open. The OP wants to change the
default author name used for all new files.
