i have to delete a wordart word on the first page of a document but i cannot
seem to 'connect' to it to select it to delete it! i first thought it was a
'watermark' but on the watermark page - 'no watermark' has been selected so
all that I can think it is, is a wordart which has been 'sent to background'
but i dont know how to get it back to remove it! help urgently please as need
to get this done by monday morning!

It may have been set behind text. This is sometimes a bit tricky. Using
the select arrow from the drawing toolbar.... click and drag a LARGE
rectangle that goes practically from page edge to page edge... fully
encompassing your word art image. That should select it. Then you merely
hit delete. If doing that grabs other objects as well -- you might want to
right click on the selection and go to the layout properties and see if they
are set behind text -- if so... change them to inline or square. Then you
can grab things one at a time. (This works for 2003 and previous -- if you
are using 2007 -- it may be different. Not yet using 2007 -- so I can't
help you there.)

Also, it could have been placed in the Header or Footer. If it is slightly
translucent, that could be an indication that it is placed in the H&F. Open
the H&F view and see if you can select it.
