How to assign the same resource to the same task?

Dear Project Team,

I'm running into an assignment problem.
How do I assign the same resource multiple times to the same task?

In other words, I have the same person work at different times on the same
task.
FYI: I'm want to track up to 700 tasks with about 20 resources and the
resources visiting and re-visiting the same tasks multiple times over years
to come.

Hello Ollie,
You can't really assign the same resource multiple times to the same task.
But you can "contour" the work profile of the resource in the Task Usage
view. Set Work = 0 when the resource doesn't work on the task.

Though I don't know your exact situation, most likely these are NOT the same
task in fact but rather multiple occurances of similar tasks. A task is a
discrete block of work that results in a single deliverable. If your
resource is re-visiting these tasks over a number of years it's very likely
that each "visit" results in its own unique deliverable and thus is really
each reptition is separate independent task with similar work activity to
the others. If I have to paint the walls of my room, each wall takes 1 day,
and I'm going to do one wall a month, it's not one task lasting 4 months,
it's 4 different 1-day tasks each involving painting a wall.
