I'm creating the document with publisher and then printing it to
pdf.. not creating the document with Acrobat.. I would have to create
the "print this page" element in publisher..
You are creating the PDF document with some piece of PDF software, from your
Publisher file.
Because you are printing to a PDF file, no interactive elements are
transferred - what's the point in transferring animations and active
clickable elements to a printer? No printer can print animations or
hyperlinks - not yet, anyway.
You would have to use Acrobat or another PDF editing application to add
hyperlinks and other active functionality. The only bit you would create in
Publisher is the image of the button.
However, I really can't see why you would need a "Print this page button".
For a completely new user, it would be easier and more effective to show
them how to use the software properly than to try and make it easy for them.
And for the majority of computer users (even new ones) it is easier to find
the "Print" button on the toolbar than it is to use a print button on a
document (and that's without adding the fact that the "Print" button would
then appear on the printed page, which would not look particularly nice).
