Has this Project Manager actually created and saved any projects? If not,
you should know that the default permissions for the Project Managers group
allows each project manager to see only his/her projects in both Microsoft
Project Professional and in PWA. If the PM in question has not created a
project, then he/she will see no projects in either tool. Let us know if
this explains your situation.

The PM has saved numerous plans in Pro and can see all other enterprise
projects, except for one in particular. I've validated that other PM's with
the same 'role' setup can see the plan that this one PM cannot.

Did the PM actually create this project, or did someone else? Is there
something unique about this project that would prevent the PM from seeing
it?

D

Deena Blazek

No, this PM did not create the plan, but can see others that he didn't create
either. Nothing unique that is apparent. What would you consider unique?

Is the PM a team member in all the other projects but not in this one? That
could make it unique.

Are you asking if this PM is a resource assigned to this project? If so, he
is not, but that should not matter, correct? If he has to be a resource for
this project then all of our PM's would have to be added as resources to all
of our Enterprise projects, logically.

The reason I ask the question is because Project Server's default
permissions only allow project managers to see projects that meet the
following criteria:

1. Projects for which they are the actual manager
2. Projects in which they are a team member
3. Projects managed by other PM's, but in which their resources have task
assignments

These three conditions are set by the default My Projects category, and
determine what consistitutes one of "my projects" in Project Server. If a
project meets one of the three criteria above, then I can see it in Project
Server. If it doesn't meet one of the three criteria, then the default
permissions will not permit me to see the project. I'm just probing for
information to help me understand why this one PM can't see a particular
project in your environment.

Is there anything else you can tell me about your environment, such as
whether you have modified the default Project Server security environment so
that every PM can see every project? Let me know. Thanks!

Is there a way to 'attach' a doc in these messages so I can show you our
configuration workbook?

Send it to:

dale(dot)howard(at)msprojectperts(dot)com

I will do my best to help you. Will this document you send me show all the
customization of your Project Server security settings?

D

Deena Blazek

I just emailed you an excel worksheet showing some config settings. Please
let me know that you received it.
Thanks!

For some reason, my email keeps getting returned with the following error.

The delivery host for the domain 'msprojectperts.com' could not be determined

Is there another email I can send this to or do you have a fax number?

Oops! I typed the e-mail wrong. Sorry. Try this:

dale(dot)howard(at)msprojectexperts(dot)com

I will warn you in advance that without being able to see your complete
environment, I may not be able to troubleshoot your problem. I shall do my
best, however, with the information you give me.

Dale, Did I ever send you the configuration worksheet?
I am leaving the company. Scott Baker is our Application Support for this
product and is having the same type of issue with another user. Can you
include him in your response post to me or simply reply to
(e-mail address removed)?
thanks!!!

No, you never sent me the worksheet. However, at this point I don't have
the time to provide private free help to your organization. I would
recommend that Scott Baker post his questions in the newsgroup so that
everyone can benefit from the question and the answer. Thanks.

Dale,
I beg your pardon. I assumed based on the terms and conditions of this site
that this was a forum for users to share information. If I have misread
somewhere in the agreement that answers were given if we could pay for your
time, please forgive me.
Please do not waste any more of your time answering again.
Thank you!

Public help in this newsgroup is free. That's why I recommend that Scott
post his questions in the newsgroup so that everyone can benefit. Sorry if
you were offended. No harm was intended.
