Importing PST files

I have been trying to import my Contacts .pst file from
my desktop to my laptop without success. I remember
having problems with this when I bought my previous
computer but, unfortunately, do not remember how I
resolved it. Microsoft's Knowledge Base article for
Outlook 2002 (my version) is off the mark -- it refers to
menu sequences that seem to refer to a different version.

I tried to import the file from a CD while Outlook was
open, only to be told that I had "no permission to access
the file." I tried to import thought the Control Panel,
but I do not have the menu choices given in the Microsoft
Article (#286146).

Could someone point me in the right direction?

Have you moved the file to your hard drive and removed its read only
attribute?
After you do that, open the file, do not import it.
