Incorrect Duration calculation

Hi...

I have a task called 'Design Document & Sign Off' with subtasks as follows:

Define the HP SA architecture (2 days)
Develop HP Architecture and design document (2 days)
Review and provide feedback on the System Architecture (1 day)
Deliver completed System Architecture (0 days - milestone)

The problem is that the main task; 'Design Document & Sign Off' calculates a
total of 4.4 days and not 5 days as it clearly is suppose to...

This happens throughout my plan...

How come?

Thanks!!

Presumably these activities are all linked FS.

Is there any part of that interval in which work is not taking place?
Any period in working time where work is not taking place does not count
towards the duration.

Are the hours per day settings under Tools/Options/Calendar consistent
with your calendar?

Trevor,
how do i tell if there are task or resource calendars...

Dave,
yes they are all linked FS. Some of the tasks go over weekends which i
understand should not calculate those days and they dont so this is fine but
it even happens during the week - i.e. Id have a sub task of one day and
another of two days and then the main task would calulate soemthing other
than the correct answer of 3 days - WHY?!?! LOL... And lastly; How do i
tell if the hours are consistant?

As Trevor said, your first step should be to go to the Tools/Options menu,
View page, and choose a date display format that include time as well as
date. The duration of a summary task is measured from the date and time of
the earliest starting subtask until the date and time of the latest
finishing subtask. The number of working time minutes between those two
times as defined by the calendar controlling the summary task (usually the
Project calendar), divided by 60 times the Hours per Day setting on the
Tools/Options menu, Calendar page, is the number of days duration that will
appear in the summary task row. Remember, the durations of the subtasks are
NOT additive into the duration of their summary task.
