is Office XP and Office 2002 the same thing:

I've read where Office 2002 is the same as Office XP and I've read where it's
the same as Office 2003. Obviously I have Office 2002 and it's seldom listed
in the updates, I usually get sent to Office XP. I'm soooo confused!

The individual applications in Office XP are named <whatever> 2002 (Word
2002, PowerPoint 2002, etc.). But the Office suite itself is indeed called
Office XP, not Office 2002. You will, though, often see the individual
applications referred to as <whatever> XP (Word XP, PowerPoint XP, etc.).

MS should fire the genius marketing person who thought that up.

Office 2003 is the version following Office XP, and its individual
applications are also called <whatever> 2003. Thank god. <g>
