Is there any way to view the 'cause' of a levelling delay.

I have 4 large projects all consolidated into one Master project with
a single shared resource pool. The first project is on its own
followed by 2 & 3 in parallel with #4 starting when 2 & 3 finish. Many
of my tasks have dependencies but many don't are limited by resource
(either manpower or device availability) for which I am using
levelling. I have prioritized all the tasks and for the most part can
see where the levelling is working. Using 'priority, standard', no
split tasks, no reassign resources, week by week and clearing
levelling each time.

Each of my projects is about 140 tasks including roll-ups and the
changes in levelling are changing my end date by months at a time.

There are instances where I see a large gap in work between two
sequential tasks and it is due to a levelling delay one of which is
36ed. When I check the resource calendars none of the resources are
occupied during the period of levelling delay and there is NO other
project work occuring, just a nice little one month break for all
involved! I have no idea why the delay is there. Is there any way to
find the reason for a levelling delay occuring during a levelling
operation or do you just press the button and have to accept that the
computer knows all!!

There are also instances where low priority work is being scheduled
despite the fact that this delays a high priority task later on that
is not dependent. Any ideas here.

I have been using Project for a while and done a couple of courses and
am busily digesting Mike Glenn's excellent tutorials when time allows.
I am also leaving feedback as requested.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Ther are many question about Ms Project that shoud be asked, but in this case
you may find your answer :
1) Check if you have entered none working days to your project calendar(not
resource calendar).
2)Filter youre tasks by data range and/or using resource ... and then chek
for inconsistencies.
3)Check if you changed your task constraints ( Consciously or any..) to
certain types or dates.

Does your schedule have "Schedule Continuity"? This is often a problem
in leveling.

Hope this helps in your world.
