Here's a problem that strikes me as so elusive I've all but given up.
But I've gotten such great help here, you never know. I cannot even be
sure Word is the cause but I suspect it might be.
I often write my emails in Word, then copy and paste it into my AOL
emails.
All looks fine when I send it. But when I see copies of my email when
people respond to me, I realize they received my emails with strange
symbols in them.
(That is, when they quote my emails when they email back to me.)
For example, the phrase "Robert's Rules" looks fine when I write it,
but my emails are received with an entire row of symbols starting about
where the apostrophe appears. I've searched for a specific example
showing the symbols but can't locate one.
Another example, I wrote the name "D'Ettorre" in Word, copy and pasted
it into an email, it looked fine, but it was received full of odd
symbols. So it seems to have something to do with the apostrophe.
I spent two hours on the phone with AOL who believed it had something
to do with the AOL email spell-check feature. Reinstalled AOL, which I
was assured would fix the problem, but it changed nothing.
If you've read this far, thank you. If you can help, I'll be even more
grateful.
