keeping different windows open

Charlie

It would be a great help if there were a way to keep one window open
on top of another one that you were working in. For example, if I
were typing a Word document, and wanted to keep a little note from
Outlook open to be able to refer to it, or an Excel file that was
restored down to a smaller size open, so I could refer to them without
having to stop typing in Word... How do I do this? Thanks,
Charlie

Hi Charlie,

There are utilities that can do this as well as
the ability to do it with scripting or programmatically.

For an end user tool, here's some examples that
may be helpful to you
http://users.forthnet.gr/pat/efotinis/programs/deskpins.html
(freeware - worked okay in limited testing)
or
http://www.actualtools.com/titlebuttons/stay_on_top_windows.shtml
(haven't tried this one).

You may want to check with the folks in a Windows newsgroup
for the version of Windows you're using for more feedback
or methods to use.
