Keeping toolbars the same each time word is opened

I am running win XP with office 2003. I keep customising the layout with
several toolbars but sometimes they are there when i open a new document and
sometimes they have all disappeared and i have to reset them. Is there a way
to make them stay permantly until i choose to remove them
