Levelling project with % complete

Hi

I have a project schedule that I have used to plan tasks for a 6 person
team.
I am starting to track progress now and am filling in % complete for
some of the tasks.
I am wanting to level the project - so that based on todays remaining
amount of work - i can see the predicted project end date - but it
doesnt seem to allow me to do this.

I have some tasks that are completed - that are still showing on the
schedule to start in a weeks time. Is project clever enough to free up
that resource for that task - or will i need to manually remove the
resource for any tasks that is 100% complete?

Hi,

Project accepts what you put into it.
If you say the resource has been working next week, so be it.
If you want Project to know the resoruce is fee next week you will haev to
inform that.

You haven't entered all of the tracking data you should have. Let's say we
have a task that was scheduled to start next Monday in the original plan but
we were able to jump the gun and get some work done on it yesterday. It's
not enough to just mark that we're now X % Complete on it. We also need to
input the Actual Start Date in the Tracking Table data in order for the task
to be moved so the schedule reflects physical reality - we were scheduled to
work 1 day on it on 15 Sept but we ACTUALLY worked that 1 day on 10 Sept.
