link to Excel allows only one user

I have a linked front end in Access to Excel, my problem
is that when I connect to the spreadsheet it locks any one
else from getting in. The Spreadsheet is shared and the
front end I believe is not in exclusive mode, what could I
do to stop this so others can access it as well?
