Linked projects use same resources names but Project doesn't realize it

I have several projects linked into one master project. The intent i
to monitor resources across the board. But when I have "Senior Tester
in two different sub-projects, Project treats them as two distinc
resources. Is there any way supported by Project to treat them as th
same resource

Yes, there is a way.

First, you should understand that Project does not use the resource name
as the way to identify the resource. There are "resource id" numbers.
Each resource then has a number of "properties", one of which is the
name.

Second, you need to be using a Shared Resource File in order for
multiple files to share the same resources.

What's happened, despite using the same name, is you have invented two
different resources (each with their own ID in their on respective MPP
file). Linking these subproject files into the master file doesn't do
any resource sharing.

To fix: I would recommend reading about resource sharing in the Project
Help file. It's described in great detail there. Create such shared
resource file and then work through changing the resource assignement to
keep one of the duplicate names, and for the other duplicates, reassign
to the real single resource.
