Locking Text Boxes

R

Rodney

Hope someone can help.

I want to lock text boxes and tables in a document so only a certain amount
of text will fit in the space.
Is this possible to do? Can you effectively limit te amount of text entered
into a pre-made text box or table?
Cheers in advance

You can fix the dimensions of the cells of a table so that once that
available space is filled, the balance just disappears into a black hole.

The answer to the OP's original question is "no," you can't limit text
input into a table cell (unless you use a form field, of course).

The text that disappears into a black hole is actually all still there,
it's just hidden behind adjacent cells. IOW, you could enter a whole
novel if you wanted to, but you'd only see the parts that fit within
your rigidly defined cell area.

Oh, the fun of it. :)

Thanks for the heads up guys. How would I lock the dimensions of the text
box or table cell?

Set the Row Height of the cell to "Exactly" something (it's a drop-down
box).

Also, make sure "Size to Fit" for columns is not on (later versions of
Word only).
