Login page message telling me how many emails I have

Does anyone know how to turn off whatever type of alert that appears under my
name on the Windows Login Page to tell me how many new emails I have? It is
for the email address I have linked to my Outlook 2003, but I have searched
in Outlook under 'login', 'logon', and 'new email' and nothing comes up that
deals with this. I have also looked in my Control Panel<Internet Options, but
don't see anything that relates.
