mail disappears from all folders when any icon is clicked

When I open Outlook all my mail appears in all folders:
sent/inbox/outbox. After clicking on any icon, all the
mail from all the folders disappears. I also cannot
send. It hangs. If I close the app and reopen, all
folders have mail and the process repeats. Is this a
problem with XP? MSN? I didn't have outlook issues with
other ISPs. Thx,
