mail merge, but w/different data each time?

I print reminder postcards for clients. The client sends
me a different database each month. I want to be able to
save the card layout and merge different data each time
they send me their file. When I open the saved pub file
it states that "Opening this publication will access data
from the following location:..." and then shows the
location of the data file that I just printed from. How
can I open this saved file, but access my merge data from
a different file?

I did figure out how to open a different database for the
same postcard publication. Now the problem is that
apparently unless the 2nd database has the same fields as
the first you get a <<Missing merge field>>. For
example, the test data that I'm using has "Troy" in the
name field. The 2nd database has "Roy" in the name field
