mailto URL with body not respecting format

Arin Lipman

I am using Office 2007. When I use a mailto url that includes a body, the
default formatting is not respected in Outlook. When the message loads, the
blank spaces are set to Times New Roman size 12 with auto spacing before and
after. What I want to appear is no spacing before or after the paragraph.

I have set this as the default in Word as I have read may be the issue,
but this did not make a change. I modified the settings under tools --> Mail
Formatting, but none of these changes affected the remainder of the message.
I have also changed the theme, but when I changed the theme, this did not
seem to be applied to my message (no background).

Any Advice?

1. you don't change the formatting in word, you change it in the outlook
mail template. See http://www.slipstick.com/problems/dblspace_html.htm.
2. mailto's use simple mapi and call up outlook at a different point so
stationery and themes aren't used. The mail template should be used, so
editing the template should work.

Thanks, but unfortunately this did no resolve my issue. I changed the
template, but the template did not even include the Times New Roman size 12
font style that I am seeing at the end of some lines and in the beginning of
the body.

Any other ideas?

Are the messages plain text or html? plain text uses different settings but
mailto's should use your default format in outlook. (File, Send to commands
use plain text.)

The message is in HTML format. It seems to respect the no double spacing,
but it still has the Times New Roman font even though I changed it.
