make entries under "FILE AS" identical to those under "FULL NAME"

When I change an entry in "FILE AS" to be the same as I have under "FULL
NAME" it keeps changing back to a different order. Also is it possible to
copy & past a whole column?

An answer to your question would require that you post more clearly and
include your Outlook version and preference settings for the fields in
question. Your post contains no actual information. Both "File As" and "Full
Name" are derived fields that you cannot edit directly.

FIRST QUESTION: My Outlook version is 2003 (11.5608.5606).
Under tools/options/preferences/contact options/default FULL NAME order is
FIRST(MIDDLE)LAST and FILE AS order is FIRST,LAST.
An example of the problem would be: Bardi Ward in the FULL NAME list is
Bardi Ward, but in the FILE AS list is Ward, Bardi, but if I open the contact
details for her then in the FULL NAME box I have Bardi Ward and in the FILE
AS box I have Bardi Ward, which is how I want them to be.
SECOND QUESTION: is "DERIVED FIELDS YOU CANNOT EDIT DIRECTLY" computer speak
for "IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO COPY AND PASTE A WHOLE COLUMN"
Thanks for any help....David Roper

Getting closer.
What is a FULL NAME list? What is a FILE AS list? You have not even
specified to what view you are referring so your terms have no meaning to
us.
As a general principle, when you are expecting Outlook to parse names like
the example you post (where both names are short and neither is recognizable
as either a first or last name) you should parse the name elements directly
by placing them in the correct fields.

i believe i am referring to the CONTACTS view which has a column called FULL
NAME and one called FILE AS.
I don't know what PARSE means, so could you give me an example of the actual
steps to deal with the following example: Bardi Ward in the FULL NAME list is
Bardi Ward, but in the FILE AS list is Ward, Bardi, but if I open the contact
details for her then in the FULL NAME box I have Bardi Ward and in the FILE
AS box I have Bardi Ward, which is how I want them to be.

Also is it possible to copy and paste these whole columns mentioned above
(answer yes or no please)
Thanks for help...droper

"Parse" means you place the name elements into their correct fields
manually. There is no "Contacts" view.

I can't understand Russ's replies, so would someone else read our "posts",
and if possible give me some help in plain (friendly) English
