merging individual resource sheets into master

I have multiple MSP 2003 project plans I will merge into a master plan. I
will use a shared resource sheet when all is said and done, but have to
reconcile all the resource sheets from the individeual plans that are being
developed separately. Some will modify individual resource calendars.

My question: How do I merge the resources, with their respective calendars
and anything specific to them in the individual plans with the shared
resource sheet I create from one of the plans?

It's not entirely clear what you want to achieve. If you make a
consolidated or master plan, then the resource details will be inherited
from the component plans.

If you are saying that you want to create a resource pool so that plans
use that in the future, then I suggest that you create a master plan,
making sure that when you insert individual projects, the option "Link
to project" is deselected.

Having done that, you will have a single resource sheet (or resource
pool), but you may have some duplicates depending on how rigorously the
individual plans were created. That will have to be resolved manually.

Now if you delete all of the tasks/projects in your plan you will have
the single resource sheet and you can open each individual project and
connect to the resource pool. Again, you may have to resolve mismatches
between resource names in the pool and projects manually.

Apologies if I have misunderstood what you are trying to do.

THanks, Dave. Not sure I fully understand what I am to do. I have a
template st up for my Master plan. I will insert the individual plans inot
the master. The individual plans were developed separately. Downtime was
entered for some resources in the separate plans. Thus, in the individual
plans, some resoruces have specific clendars associated with them.

Should I take the master template, strip out all tasks, save it so that I
can set it as the shared resoource shett, then insert the various plans into
a master that points to this shared resource sheet? If I do, will the
various calendars associated with the resources be inherited into the shared
resource sheet so that all I have to do is manually reconcile name
differences?

If I insert plans into a master that is tied to the resource sheet, will all
resoruces and their respective calendars be inheritied if I deselect "Link to
project?"

Thanks!

I think I have it figured out...

When you choose Tools/Resoruce Sharing/Share Resources, you then choose the
button to indicate the "Sharer takes precedence" on conflicts. That is not
the recommended option, but it was the only way I could make sure the
calendars for individual resrouces that were created in the standalone plans
would not be compromised or lost when sharing the plans. I don't yet know
all the implications, but will go with this until I discover something or a
responder to this message has a better way.

Thanks for the help anyway!
