Microsoft Excel missing?

I have been using an older computer that has Microsoft Office 97 which has
Word and Excel. I purchased a used Microsoft Works Suite 2002 CD a couple
days ago and installed it, but it doesn't appear to have Excel on it, at
least I can't find it, but it does have Word. Is something wrong, or do they
not make Excel anymore? I was hoping to use it.

Works Suite is not Office. And I hope you didn't pay much for that disk
because you can buy the latest version of Works Suite (2006) for about $95
from Amazon.com. Oh - and there's a $20 mail-in rebate for residents of the
US, PR, and all military bases with APO and FPO addresses. $75 for the
latest and greatest version.

And as you've seen, Works Suite does not include Excel. Never has - never
will.

Excel is part of Microsoft Office which goes for big bucks but there is a
free chunk of software called Open Office which has programs similar to Ms
Office and is compatible to it. You can go to Openoffice.org or google it
and you will be able to download it for free. Stan
