More Calendar Issues

We just can't get a 37.5 hour week calendar to work in MSP2000. We have
changed the options to 7.5h per day, 37.5h per week, 5 days a week and
the working time is amended reflect this timescale. There is no problem
when adding tasks - dates and times are correct - but as soon as we add
predecessor(s) Project seems to go back to the Standard calendar and
reschedule tasks to start at 08:00. This shortens the day by half an
hour putting the whole schedule out of sync. What are we doing wrong
here?

Hi callawayman ,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

Try Project/Project Information... and set the Project start date as a date
and time eg: 20/12/2009 08:30.

FAQs, companion products and other useful Project information can be seen at
this web address: http://project.mvps.org/faqs.htm

Hope this helps - please let us know how you get on :)

Hi

Also check have you assigned your new calendar to the project.

Do Project > project information > calendar (select your new calendar)

Once this option is selected, calculations should happen based upon your new
calendar.

I hope it helps

Note that those setting on the Calendar Options page that you mention DO NOT
change the hours of work in the calendar. They are conversion factors to
allow you to enter duration in your preferred units other than minutes.
When you enter a task as having "3 days" duration, Project must convert that
to minutes for storage and calculation. To change the hours of work, you
must go to the Tools menu, ChangeWorkingTime and either edit the standard
calendar or create one to replace it that reflects your general hours of
work and statutory holidays. Also, as Mike said, make sure the time
associated with the project start date is accurate as well.

One last piece of advice. You note that you have changed the
working time. When you changed through Tools > Change Working Time,
did you select all working days by clicking the M, T, W, TH, and F
column headings? It's possible (and fairly common) to forget to
select all the working days and end up only changing the working
time for one day -- usually the current date when the calendar was
altered.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.
