Multiple Projectplans

Hi
now I have another issue.
I have several external suppliers delivering project plans.
Not all the time I need all details to compile my own plan.
I know I can import plans into my own one.
Can I also import only a subset, certains tasks, or certain group of
tasks?
Sometimes it would also be helpful to be able to add my tasks between
their tasks. Are those things possible?

Kay,
Well, yes and no. It depends on how much effort you are willing to
expend. If you create a separate file containing only the subset tasks
of the suppliers plan then you can of course insert those into your
plan. This can get a bit tedious though particularly if you want to try
different subsets and/or need to do it on a regular basis.

Have you thought about just inserting the whole supplier plan in your
plan and then using filters to select out all your tasks and only those
of the supplier that you need?

Another possibility is to keep the plan separate but add external links
between the supplier tasks of interest and your plan (or vice versa). If
the links are simple (i.e. only link in individual tasks and not a
logically linked group of tasks), you can even show the linked in tasks
as ghost tasks by checking "Show External Predecessors and Successors"
on the view tab of the Options window (Tools/Options).

There is generally always a way to do what you want. It's just a matter
of being clever and putting in some effort. For the really complex
stuff, VBA can be a tremendous help.

Hope this helps.

Hi

Filters is what I missed
That should do the job

Sometimes I would like to have a group of tasks
But individual should also do
Thanks, great help

Not for me :)
