Thanks Susan,
When a new user logs on to a computer for the first time MS Word
configures the "Startup-Path" to the newly created User's folders like
C:\Documents and Settings\User\Application Data\Microsoft\Word\STARTUP.
I would like to get MS Word to automatically configure its self to the
network drive say H:\Templates\Word\STARTUP for all future new users.
From there I can control everything else via VBA through a Startup
Template.

Win2k & XP Pro - MS Word 9.0 to 11.0. about 30 workstations.

I'm not sure...used to be that you could change a registry entry for the
"default" user and then all subsequent logins would have that setting, but I
don't know if that would work with Win2K and XP Pro. Might be worth a try
on a test system.

I was asking what kind of changes you were making in the template, because
you could probably make some, if not all, by using the Custom Maintenance
Wizard, depending on how your deployment was originally done.

Clever idea to use a startup template; but then how do you get rid of the
Startup Template so it no longer runs after the first time?
