I'm not sure...used to be that you could change a registry entry for the
"default" user and then all subsequent logins would have that setting, but I
don't know if that would work with Win2K and XP Pro. Might be worth a try
on a test system.

I was asking what kind of changes you were making in the template, because
you could probably make some, if not all, by using the Custom Maintenance
Wizard, depending on how your deployment was originally done.

Clever idea to use a startup template; but then how do you get rid of the
Startup Template so it no longer runs after the first time?

Susan,
I will look at using the registry option, thanks.
I think the registry location probably depends on the version of Windows
and probably MSWord.

I don't do the installation of software here and I am not familiar with
the Custom Maintenance Wizard, is it normally available on the MSOffice CD?

I use the Startup template to hold all standard Macros, and Menus so
they are always available to all users regardless of which template is
used to create the open document. I also store our standard Autotext,
and Styles so they can always be ported to any document at any time for
whatever reason. It is basically our Master Template, and you don't need
to unload it or otherwise get rid of it, it works quite nicely in the
background.
