Does anyone one know of a similar forum to this for Windows XP. (And
while I'm already typing, I may as well tell you what my problem is
How do I stop Windows Explorer opening whenever I log on?)

No worries. When you find an NG with decent, friendly people in it
sometimes it is hard to venture out into those other NGs with rude,
unhelpful people. A while back the WindowsXP group had a few lurkers in it
waiting to flame innocents. That may have changed by now. Good luck.
