Terry - I have an equally odd problem with word. I have Office 2007. Via
MOSS 2007 web sites I cannot open .doc files. When I click on a web page
link for a .doc file it offers me the option of saving or canceling. It says
it does not recognize the file type. I can open these .doc files from any
other version of word. I can open word and then open the .doc files. I was
searching microsoft's site for answers and tried to open a .doc file. Same
issue. I have not found a way to solve this.

I have exactly the same problem. Windows Vista + Office 2007 and ACER desktop
computer.

And it is driving me mad...

Do you have a locally installed printer driver set as windows default? The
templates all available to Word on your laptop?
