when attempting to choose an office assistant other than default, get a
message "not enough memory to complete that operation". I have a brand new
laptop, can someone tell me how to get around this?

I had that with Office 2000. It's one of the ways that Office isn't
compatible with Vista. You can get around it by editing the registry (not
recommended unless you know what you're doing in there) and choosing the
actor file directly (I found it by searching the registry for "clippit") but
I don't know of any other way.

....Unless you do what I eventually did, and upgrade to Office 2007, but then
you won't have any office assistants at all.
