Office clipboard error

I use Word 2010 Beta version. I recently noticed that when I double click any
text in the document, the text is automatically added to the Office
clipboard. As a result, when I double click a word to replace it with the one
I copied (using Ctrl+C), the original word (that I double clicked) is pasted
instead of the one I copied.

How can I fix this error?
Thanks in advance

That's usually a symptom of an incompatible add-in messing with Word. Test
in Word Safe Mode to see if it inhibits the problem. From Start | Run
(WinKey +R), type in

winword /a

and press Enter. Open a document and test the action again. Does it still
happen?

I think beta questions have their own venue. But, I don't see what you're
seeing in Word 2010. Is it possible that you have an add-on that's modifying
what double-clicking does?

As an experiment, display the clipboard by clicking the launcher in the
Clipboard section of the Home ribbon tab, and watch the clipboard when you
double-click. Are you saying that each time you double-click a word, it
automatically gets added to the clipboard without your pressing Ctrl+C?

When I double-click a word, the clipboard is unaffected.

If you're seeing something different, I would suspect an add-in problem or
some other glitch. Do you see the problem if you start Word in safe mode
(hold down the ctrl key when starting Word, and click Yes to the safe mode
prompt)?

Have you installed some incompatible clipboard utility that is messing with
the Clipboard? What happens if you select a Word using the keyboard rather
than double-clicking the word: does it still get appended to the clipboard?

How are you pasting?

Are you sure that the double click is writing to the clipboard? Or, could it
be that when you think you are pasting you are actually doing something
else? For example, if you are using Ctrl+V, might it have been assigned to
something other than Paste?

Thank you for your interest..

- I didn't install any clipboard utilities.

- The problem happens only when I select text using the mouse not the
keyboard.

O

- Ctrl+V is not assigned to anything other than Paste.

- I can record the steps so that you can watch what happen, but how can I
send that to you?

Thank you

If selecting a word using the keyboard lets Ctrl+V work correctly, this
isn't a Word problem. I suggest that you try a different mouse to eliminate
that first. Word just doesn't have a double-click copy to clipboard feature.

So you are using a standard MS mouse and Synaptics Touchpad, So you have a
Laptop and you didn't tell us.

Toggle off the Touchpad: use the FN or FUNC key plus the appropriate F-key
assigned to toggling the touchpad. It is usually FN+F6 or F7, depending on
the Laptop manufacturer. Once the Touchpad is off, test again.

I discovered that my problem has to do with software I installed on my
personal and business machines, and when removing it from them, both worked
well. It's "Babylon Translation Software." When I searched on the Internet I
found that I'm not the only user who encountered this problem with Babylon.
It somehow affects not only the Office clipboard but also the Windows
clipboard!

Thank you for your concern

Well a third party add-in was my first suggestion and I'm please you zapped
the culprit.
