Office Files Blocked

After opening a blocked Word .doc file, it seems that the normal.dot was set
for read only files, because I can't write anithing, even on a new .doc file
it also happens with .xls or .pps files. I just cannot type anything.
How can I fix this problem? I have Office 2003.
