Opening a file!

This is the strangest behaviour I have seen on a Microsoft product & I need
some help.

If I open a Publisher file having first launched the application, the file
is corrupt (graphics missing, display window part frozen). If I double-click
on a publisher file, it opens OK.

I launched the application, used the wizzard to creat a 3-page website,
saved it, then closed the app. I re-launched the app, opened the saved file
& it was ok. I then opened one of the previous files that was corrupted form
the file/open menu, the app loaded in another window & the file was fine. I
then closed both apps, re-launched & opened the same file - corrupted.

I tried turning NIS off - no change. I suppose the obvious solution is to
onlt open via double-click, but then something might go horribly wrong when I
least expect it.

Anyone got any ideas?

It could be an image is corrupt. Delete one image at a time, re-save with a
different file name.

Thanks, but it is not one file, it is any previously saved file. But why
would a corrupt image only cause a problem when opening a file from the
launched app, surely this would also occur by double clicking on the file as
well.

Do a detect and repair from the help menu. Do you have all the service packs?

Sounds to me as though the file type .PUB is associated (in file
associations) with a different version of Pub or some other
application.
Look at Help>About when the file is OK and again when it is bad and see
if the application versions are the same.
