Outlook Not Responding

Since doing updates on MS Office XP Standard, I've had 2
problems that have started.

1. Outlook stops responding and locks up.
2. When I am able to close Outlook, I get the error that
Macros for Visual Basic are disabled.

Is this a problem that is occuring from the updates?
What steps should I take to resolve this problem? I'm
running Windows XP Professional.
