Outlook - Office 2000

We use Outlook 2000 in the office. Recently, I had a problem:

When I closed the Outlook program, a message like "Please wait while outlook
is exiting" showed and never disappeared. When I killed it in the Process
Manager, another message "Operation Error" showed up. What problem do I
have? Should I reinstall the program? Or any quick fix can solve the
problem?
