Outlook - Program Not Registered

Barry Warner

On one of our computers at the office, we receive the following
message when we attempt to open up a program:

"Microsoft Outlook" (in the blue title bar)"

"The program is not registered properly. Please run Setup again.
Can't find this file. Make sure the path and file name are correct."

The program we are opening is not even related to Outlook, so I don't
understand this error. It comes up every time I go into this program.
Can someone please help me resolve this? Thanks. This is Outlook 97
loaded on a WinNT 4.0 PC.

Sorry, way too many programs exist with lots of them quite little known by
the general populace. You don't want to identify the program so those who
use it cannot help you. Just because the program you load isn't Outlook
doesn't mean that the undisclosed program might not utilize MAPI to perform
e-mail functions which will use whatever is designated as the current e-mail
program.

Thanks for the response. I did not mention the program, which is
Unisys (a data entry program), because I'm sure very few, if any, have
heard of it. It is installed on dozens of other desktops at the
office and it does not access email. Only this one PC has this
problem.

Could be the application is causing MS Office to trigger an update install.
Have you tried running the Detect and Repair (under Help menu) in Outlook?
