page design

hi.

i am trying to make a template for a friend, but i have a small problem.

i nead to add a background to the publication in order to center and place
the text.

but this background should not be printed its only for knowing where to put
the textboxes.

"the background is allready printed on the paper by a printing firm" i only
print the text on a regular printer in the office.

this is kind of a newsletter that the pctures on it are allready printed by
a printing company.

thank you

Instead of actually using a picture, why not create the boundaries on a
master page and then stay out of that area?

it is easier to position the text box on the page when i see whats the
background allready printed looks like.

i have a sample of a file that is done allready but i cant figure out how
the author put the background on the blank page. the image cannot be clicked
or moved, even when printing the image dont print. it is just there for
display purposes so if someone that have no knowledge in oublisher can enter
the text in the textbox and se if it is centered correcltly.

i hope i am explaining it correctly

Have you tried viewing the Master Page (ctrl+m)? When the Master Page is ignored
it will not print.
There are certain templates Publisher has in its template library that will not
print, these templates are for commercial stock. www.paperdirect.com

View, Simply check *Ignore Master Page*. In earlier versions it would be called
"Background Page."
