parameterized date construct

is it possible to build projects using a T-days or T+days type of construct,
or do ACTUAL dates need to be entered?

We were hoping to be able to build templates for repeating project types,
that could be customized by the dates

Hello DavidCHS,

All tasks in a project will have dates based upon several factors
(working time definition in calendar, project start date,
predecessor/successor relationships, lead, lag, constraints, etc.)
However, you can build your project file, save as a template. When
you create a new project based on the template, you set a new project
start date through Project > Project Information and all dates should
adjust. If you have set constraints, you'll need to use the "Adjust
dates" button on the Analysis toolbar to set the new project start
date.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

that does help - basically we need to put in actual calendar dates, and then
adjust for new projects?

You'll need to let project *schedule* the dates based upon the list of
items below. You shouldn't be entering dates into Project. If you
build your project plan as you should, you will create a dynamic
schedule that can be updated by simply changing the project start
date. If you are new to scheduling in MS Project, I suggest taking a
read of Mike Glen's excellent series of tutorials on MS Project. They
can be found at:

Actual dates are entered in to project to record what is actual
happening in your project. You wouldn't enter them until you've
finished planning the project.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.
