Part-time resource with fixed duration

I have a small software project where I have a project manager working 3
hrs/week on the six week project. I have not been able to properly document
this task and resource in Project and am looking for advice. I attempted to
indicate the resource at 15%, approximately 3 hours/week, but that was not
successful, as Project recalculated the time as 2 weeks duration.

I am looking to schedule the resource for the full 6-weeks, but at 15%. How
would I do this?

Project uses a default work week of 40 hours, so 3 hours per week would not
be 15%. 6 hours per week would turn out better.

What I'd do is double click the task, set the task type to "fixed duration",
then assign the resource and set the work to 12 hours. Project should then
calculate the rate (aka: Units) as 7.5%.

Hi

Adding on to Jack's suggestion, you may create a new calendar for the
resource with 3 hrs working week as appropriate i.e on whichever days these 3
hrs fall. Assign this calendar to the resource and then assign the resource
as 100% for the days it is working. Since the task would also be getting
input from other resources, making it Fixed duration should help.
