Pasted Dates from Excel Off

I;m going crazy..

I paste a group of task name and start and finish dates from Excel into
Project but the resulting dates in Project are shifted back by 4 years. Ie:
3/5/2005 becomes 3/5/01. But if I select the dates in Project and paste
them back into Excel they are correct again. If I paste manually entered
dates in Project to Excel the are also offset.

What is going on?

Thanks

This sounds like it could be due to Excel's use of the 1900 vs. 1904 date
system. In Excel, go to Tools|Options|Calculation. Check out the setting
for 1904 date system. Change it to the opposite of what you currently have,
and try your cut and paste again.

Thanks Bob,

That was it! I never heard of the 1904 date system before. I did get the
file from someone else. Changing it, changed the source data. I guess it
could have added a number to correct for the difference but I just copied the
dates to a text file then copied them to MSP from there.

Thank again,
